Alignerr

Mechanical Engineering Expert - AI Content Specialist

About this role

About the Role We're partnering with the world's leading AI research teams to make cutting-edge language models smarter, safer, and more technically rigorous — and we need mechanical engineers to help us do it. As a Mechanical Engineering Expert, you'll stress-test advanced AI systems on topics like fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and mechatronics. You'll design problems that expose the limits of AI reasoning, author gold-standard solutions, and provide the structured feedback that helps these models think better. This is a rare opportunity to apply your deep technical knowledge to a field that's reshaping the world — on your own schedule, from anywhere. - Organization: Alignerr - Type: Hourly Contract - Location: Remote - Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do - Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced mechanical engineering problems across domains including FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to rigorously test AI performance - Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that serve as the standard for AI learning - Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) - Improve AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors in AI outputs — such as incorrect force distributions, flawed energy conservation arguments, or invalid material assumptions — and deliver structured feedback to improve model quality Who You Are - Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field - Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes - Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical reasoning clearly and concisely in writing - Highly detail-oriented when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints - No prior AI experience required — your engineering knowledge is what matters Nice to Have - Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows - Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS - Background in technical writing or academic publishing Why Join Us - Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs and AI teams - Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule, at your own pace - Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with experts across the globe - Make a direct, meaningful impact on how AI understands and reasons through engineering problems - Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
