As a Mechanical Engineering Expert, your deep knowledge of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and more will directly shape how next-generation AI reasons through complex engineering problems. This is a rare opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and artificial intelligence — without leaving your home. - Organization: Alignerr - Type: Hourly Contract - Location: Remote - Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do - Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-domain problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid dynamics, and material science to rigorously stress-test AI performance - Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop detailed, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation - Audit AI Reasoning — Review AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards such as ASME and ISO - Refine AI Thinking — Identify flaws in AI reasoning — such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations — and deliver structured feedback to improve model outputs Who You Are - Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field - Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, CAD/CAM, thermodynamics, or manufacturing processes - Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical concepts clearly and concisely in writing - Highly precise when working with mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints - Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in an asynchronous environment - No prior AI experience required Nice to Have - Experience with data annotation, technical writing, or evaluation systems - Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS - Familiarity with AI or language model evaluation workflows Why Join Us - Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside top AI research labs - Fully remote and flexible — work on your own schedule - Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration - Make a meaningful impact on how AI understands and applies engineering knowledge - Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
