About the Role What if your expertise in advanced mathematics could directly shape how AI reasons, solves problems, and communicates with the world? We're looking for Mathematics experts — Masters and PhD holders — to help build and refine the mathematical reasoning capabilities of cutting-edge AI models. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. You'll work asynchronously alongside world-class AI researchers, applying your deep mathematical knowledge to problems that genuinely matter. No prior AI experience needed — your expertise in mathematics is what counts. - Organization: Alignerr - Type: Hourly Contract - Location: Remote - Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do - Develop, solve, and critically review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance - Design complex, rigorous problem statements across algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related areas - Evaluate AI-generated mathematical reasoning and outputs for correctness, clarity, and depth - Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to strengthen AI model performance - Ensure the highest standards of mathematical rigor and precision across all deliverables - Work independently on task-based assignments at your own pace and schedule Who You Are - Holds a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field - Deep expertise in one or more of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics - Comfortable coding in Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica for research or applied problem-solving - Exceptionally detail-oriented — you catch errors others miss and care deeply about precision - Clear and confident written communicator, able to explain complex ideas with rigor and clarity - Fluent in English and currently based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand Nice to Have - Prior experience in data annotation, evaluation systems, or AI quality assurance - Background in mathematical research, academic publishing, or technical writing - Familiarity with AI tools or machine learning concepts - Experience designing or grading advanced problem sets in an academic setting Why Join Us - Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs and AI teams - Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you - Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work - Apply your advanced expertise to problems at the frontier of AI development - Make a direct, tangible impact on how AI understands and reasons through mathematics - Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
