About the Role We're looking for mechanical engineering specialists to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models. Your deep technical knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to structural mechanics and FEA. This is a unique opportunity to work at the frontier of AI development, applying your hard-earned expertise in a flexible, remote freelance role. - Organization: Alignerr - Type: Hourly Contract - Location: Remote - Commitment: 10–40 hours/week What You'll Do - Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-domain mechanical engineering challenges across areas like finite element analysis (FEA), heat transfer, kinematics, fluid mechanics, and material science to rigorously test AI performance - Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that serve as the gold standard for AI learning - Audit AI Technical Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) - Refine AI Reasoning Processes — Identify logical errors such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or flawed material assumptions, and provide structured feedback to improve how AI models "think" Who You Are - Holds a Master's degree (in progress or completed) or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field - Strong foundational expertise in one or more core domains: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, mechatronics, or manufacturing processes - Able to communicate complex technical concepts and physical phenomena clearly and precisely in written form - Highly detail-oriented with a sharp eye for mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints - No prior AI experience required — we'll get you up to speed Nice to Have - Prior experience in data annotation, data quality assurance, or technical evaluation workflows - Proficiency with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, ANSYS, or similar tools - Familiarity with industry standards like ASME, ISO, or ASTM Why Join Us - Work on some of the most advanced AI projects in the world alongside leading AI research labs - Fully remote and flexible — set your own schedule and work at your own pace - Apply your engineering expertise in a novel, high-impact way - Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and collaboration with a global community of domain experts - Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
